The Cement DP (Development Partnership) gives candidates a real opportunity to get back on their feet and support themselves through the development of practical skills in the construction industry.
Training takes place in dedicated workshops including the West Herts College Cement Skills Training Centre (opened in October 2005). The focus is on the development of multi skills which construction employers demand. Integral to the training programmes are skills for life, soft skills, First Aid and the CSCS Health and Safety card.
Through its Social Enterprise – called Cementaprise – the Cement project has placement coordinators who liaise with employers, candidates and project sponsors. Cementaprise helps to break down barriers to training and recruitment; provides work placement opportunities and strengthens links within the construction sector – all of which creates more job opportunities for Cement candidates.
